v0.1.0-dev.50, built October 23, 2026. The editor comes with the engine, a demo project and prebuilt players: games without scripts play and export with nothing else installed. What's in this build.

These are development builds: everything here works, but things change between builds, and project files may move to a newer format. Version 1.0 will be the first stable release.

Writing scripts

Games with scripts are compiled with Odin. The editor installs the right version for you (Settings › Toolchain › Install Odin); you also need your system's linker: clang on Linux, the Xcode command line tools on macOS (xcode-select --install), or the Visual Studio Build Tools on Windows. The getting started pages walk through it.

Older builds and the source

Every build is on GitHub's releases page, with its notes. The editor, the engine and this site are open source under the MIT license: crossfire-editor, crossfire-engine. To build them yourself, see building from source.
